2018 Friends of Scouting

An investment in Friends of Scouting is an investment in Scouting’s mission and values. Through Scouting programs we are able to prepare today’s youth for tomorrow’s challenges by instilling them with character, confidence, leadership, integrity and the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

Scouts in Action Photo Contest

Samoset Council is decorating the hallway to Schuette Hall with wonderful Scouting photography. However, there seems to be a few blank spots of the wall... and we want you to fill those blanks!

We welcome all higher quality photos of our Scouts in action! Photo submissions must be completed by February 23, 2018 via email. Once the submission time has ended the Samoset Council will review all submissions and will make the final decision. Runner-up photos will also be on display either digitally or placed on the wall in the smaller designated areas.

To submit your photo or if you have questions please contact Leanna at leanna.holzem@samoset.org.

Note: The winner for the Scouts in Action Photo Contest will be required to provide an image resolution of 3700x5600 (or greater).

2018 Camping Events

Outdoor Adventure has always been a core part of Scouting, especially in Samoset Council. We provide many advancement opportunities that take advantage of our beautiful outdoor setting. Join us for one or more of these adventures! View this document for details.

Blue & Gold Resources

The Blue and Gold Banquet is a highlight of the year bringing together pack families for a dinner and fun celebrating the "Birthday of Cub Scouting." It's called "Blue and Gold" because those are the Cub Scout colors. Blue represents truth and loyalty, and gold represents good cheer, happiness, and helping others. The purpose of the Banquet is to mark the organization of the Boy Scouts of America in February 1910 (Cub Scouts were founded in 1930).

Along with dinner, provide entertainment – skits and songs by the boys, or bring in entertainment. Include the Cub Scouts in preparation, decorations and the program. However your pack celebrates Scouting's birthday, it will take planning and everyone's help.

Visit the Scout Shop for this limited edition Blue & Gold Samoset Council patch as well as everything else you will need for a Blue and Gold celebration!

Safety Moment

Safety Moments are exactly what the name implies: opportunities to prepare for an activity, review safety measures, and report incidents correctly. This month features winter activity safety.

There is magic to camping in winter. It is one of the most challenging outdoor adventures. However, potentially extreme weather conditions, cold temperatures, and unique hazards associated with outdoor winter activities require careful planning to ensure safety.
