Sign Up for 2020

There is so much competition for our children’s time in the summer. But let’s not forget the value of a camp experience — camp is a gift we can give our children that they will benefit from and remember forever.

Units should signup for summer camp a year and a half in advance. This allows families to plan their schedules around these events. Reservations for 2020 summer camp open March 1st at noon. You will be able to register on CampingIsKing.com

Merit Badges at Hanna Winter Resort - March 1-3

We have some room still for people to sign up to participate in Hanna Winter Resort March 1-3. We will be offering Climbing, Cooking, and Wilderness Survival Merit Badges along with various MicroTrek opportunities.

To register email camp@samoset.org

Tesomas Advancement

Registration for Merit Badges, Eagle Quest, MicroTrek, and more goes live on March 1st. The reservation owner can log in and register scouts for their activities and advancement beginning on that date. Generally speaking, MicroTrek, Shotgun Shooting, Rifle Shooting, Archery, and Kayaking Merit Badges tend to fill quickly, the rest of the Merit Badges always seem to have openings.

Here is a link to the Merit Badge Schedule, the MicroTrek Schedule, and the Eagle Quest Schedule. The schedule is pretty simple to follow, but our most common question is if the scouts need to attend every time a Merit Badge is offered. The Merit Badges are every day of the week for an hour or an hour and a half every day. For example, Camping is offered at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, and 2:00 as four sections for the week; scouts need only attend one of the four sections, not all four.

Camp Preview

A video highlighting the general camp policies is online.

We will be hosting a Facebook live broadcast where you can ask your questions and meet the camp directors this summer. Be sure to like our Facebook page and join us Wednesday, March 13th at 7:00 PM. fb.com/CrystalLakeSR

Camperships

The Tesomas Alumni Camping Trust has been established to assist any Scout or leader with financial need to experience camping. Requests must be made using the campership application for each person by April 1.

Merit Badge Day - April 13

This anticipated weekend where scouts can earn unique Merit Badges will finally be upon us April 13. Registration opens soon. The Merit Badge schedule and prerequisites will be released then.

SCUBA Adventure

Space remains for our SCUBA program periods 4, 6, and 8. SCUBA is a PADI Open Water Diver course where participants experience the excitement and adventure of our underwater world. This adventure begins with classroom SCUBA instruction and continues with several dives in Crystal lake. Can you find the sunken sailboat? By the end of the week with some studying and time in the water you will be ready to pass your PADI exam. Scouts can also earn the SCUBA Merit Badge.

More information about this trek can be found in this guide.
