2019-2020 Resource Guide

Do you wish there was a single booklet that contained everything you need to know about planning your program, funding your program, growing your program, preparing your leadership, assessing your unit, and rechartering? We have all of that in our 2019-2020 Resource Guide! And guess what... It’s FREE! Pick yours up at our Scout Office!!

Providing a year-round quality Scouting program is the key to unit success. Samoset Council wants to make sure you have the tools and resources to make this happen. The 2019-2020 resource guide is now available. We encourage each unit to spend time this summer planning activities for the next Scouting year and building an active outdoor program. Contact the Samoset office to learn more and obtain copies of this great resource.

Summer Activity Passport!

To state it obviously, the summer months are hectic with family gatherings and can be difficult to attend Scouting activities regularly. Starting June 1st, your Scout can be active in the Scouting program throughout summer while creating memories with family at the same time!

Samoset Council's Super Summer Activity Passport!

To earn the patch, each Scout must participate in all 3 of the activities. You can see the passport in the link below.

PARENTS: After you or your Scout’s Leader complete and sign this passport, send in the passport to get their special patch!

Patches will be given to your Pack Leader!

You can download your Super Summer Activity Passport (PDF)!

Smiley Dodgeball Tournament!

Duck. Dive. Dodgeball!

Ready for some dodgeball? Get your friends, family, and coworkers together for an exciting round-robin dodgeball tournament to support Boy Scouts of America! Teams consist of 6-8 players (two of which must be female) and are guaranteed to play at least three games. We will also have a youth division ages 11-17! This event will raise much-needed funding for Scouting’s outreach, STEM, and traditional programs, which instill lifelong values like character development and leadership skills to over 6,000 youth of our 13 county reach.

We will have plenty of dodgeball, yard games, food, t-shirts, awards, and fun! Registration for this event will be up and running shortly! Save the date and start getting your team ready!

Would your company like to learn more about being a sponsor for the Smiley Dodgeball Tournament? Please contact the Communications & Special Events Executive, Leanna Holzem, at leanna.holzem@samoset.org.

Safety Moment

Safety Moments are exactly what the name implies: opportunities to prepare for an activity, review safety measures, and report incidents correctly. This month features food safety.

Food-borne illnesses peak during the summer months due to a variety of factors, including warmer temperatures and improper food handling. Keep your meals and your Scouts safe while participating in hikes, campouts, and other outdoor activities with careful menu planning and by following safe food handling practices. Remember the three “C’s” to keep your food safe: Keep it COLD, keep it CLEAN, and COOK it thoroughly.
