Council Annual Report to the State Given by Wausau West Sophomore

Christian Rhoden, from Troop 419 in Weston, represented Samoset Council at the annual Report to the State at the Capital in Madison, Wednesday, April 13.

Christian, as well as Scout representatives from the seven Wisconsin Councils, each presented a short speech to Governor Tony Evers in the majestic-looking Governor’s Conference Room. After that, they headed to the Assembly Chamber to give the same report to the Legislature.

Christian, who has almost reached Eagle status, completed his Eagle project at 14 years old. He’s currently a sophomore at Wausau West. He proudly told the governor about the Gaga Ball pit he built at his alma mater Trinity Lutheran School and how it is used every day. Christian also shared with the governor his upcoming trip to the National Jamboree.

Thank you Christian Rhoden for representing the Council!

Family Friends of Scouting Progress

Scouting provides youth with the foundations needed for leadership, service, good citizenship, strong moral behavior, and a healthy work ethic—so that they not only contribute to society but are adequately prepared for whatever uncertainties the future may bring. Each year parents, volunteers, alumni, friends, and business patrons donate time, energy, and financial resources to this much needed yearly campaign. The Friends of Scouting annual giving provides the budget support for numerous improvements to our properties, expansion of Scouting programs into new markets and increases the chance that every young person in our community will benefit from the impact of Scouting.

In the last three months we have raised $129,000 which is 49% of our goal of $263,000! If you have not yet given and are interested, please visit: https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/SMILEY  or text SMILEY to 71777.

Your April Safety Moment: Annual Health and Medical Record

Completing the Annual Health and Medical Record (often known as the “medical form” or “annual physical”)  is the first step in making sure you have a great Scouting experience.  The BSA Annual Health and Medical Record is designed to help ensure that all participants in the Scouting program are healthy enough for the adventure of Scouting. It is not intended to limit participation but to inform and protect.  To keep up with possible changes in health status, the form needs to be updated annually or when a participant’s health information changes. The record expires in one year.
