MARATHON COUNTY UNITED WAY

The United Way of Marathon County recently made the decision to no longer fund local Scouting programs.  This will certainly have an impact on the council budget and our programs going forward.  Our current funding from this United Way ends on 12/31/23.

If you currently donate to the United Way of Marathon County and perhaps have had a designated donation to Samoset Council in the past, that will not be available for this campaign.  Please consider a direct gift to Samoset Council through our Friends of Scouting Campaign.

DISTRICT FALL CAMPOREES

Several Scouts BSA events are scheduled for this fall.  A camporee is many things—camping fun for youth, the thumping of feet on the way to an evening campfire, and the blue smoke from fires cooking. It’s the patter of rain on many tents at night. It’s the ripple of wind-blown flags in the morning sun. It’s catching the idea of teamwork in a patrol. It’s learning to carry out an order to help the team succeed. Camporee programs may include contests and demonstrations of outdoor Scouting skills as well as campfires, games, and field events. These activities can show Scouting at its best.  Learn more and register using the link below.

Its popcorn time!  Every Scout should learn the value of hard work and earning their own way. The popcorn sale is the perfect opportunity to teach this valuable life lesson and fund the most exciting year of Scouting ever. More than 70% of the popcorn sale supports your programs and local Scouting!

Like last year, there are many ways units and individuals can participate.  Several units have ordered popcorn to sell at storefronts.  Our door to door and workplace sales begins September 23.  Families and friends can also support Scouting through the online store. Need help or have questions?  Contact the Samoset Council office at 715-355-1450.
