Academics and Sports Program Retired

When the new Cub Scout program launches on June 1, the Academics and Sports program will be retired.  However, many of the fun and engaging activities present in requirements for the Academics and Sports program have been integrated into the required and elective adventures of the new program, so boys will still take part in the activities they enjoyed before.  The use of belt loops and pins for recognition was retained and repurposed to recognize achieving the newly developed adventures.

Boys may continue to earn Academics and Sports awards after June 1 as long as the recognition devices are available for purchase at the Scout Shop, but be aware that no new stock will be ordered and supplies are limited.

Leader Training Updated

Training for den leaders, Cubmasters, committee chairs and members, and chartered organized representatives has been updated to reflect the new program.  The new training will be divided into shorter, more targeted modules so leaders can get the training they need in the in the order they want, any time they need it.  The new training videos are expected to be released June 30, 2015 on www.scouting.org.  Leaders who are trained in their current position do not need to be “re-trained” with the new material.
