Scouting's Journey to Excellence" is the BSA's performance recognition program designed to encourage and reward success and measure the performance of our units, districts, and councils.

For 2012 Samoset Council has been rated as the number 1 council out of 287.  Thank you to all our volunteers who deliver a quality Scouting program to our youth.


Camp Preview Webinars

2014 Summer Camp Reservations

 Beginning March 4, 2013 at 6:00 PM, reservations will be accepted for 2014 campsites and treks online. Reservation preferences received will be filled in the following order: In-Council, FOS achieving Units, time stamp. Reservations received after March 6 will be on a first come, first served basis. Units are encouraged to reserve space early, as popular weeks fill up quickly.

A non-refundable reservation fee of $5 per camper is due with your reservation. These fees will apply toward your camp fees. Units will be allowed to signup and mail a check to the council office to cover this deposit.

To signup on March 4, go to http://clsr.samoset.org/camp2014.php, fill out the reservation form and click submit. For 2014 Pawnee campsite will be closed for site improvements.  


National Jamboree Webinar

There are 12 spaces that remain for the Jamboree.  Samoset Council will be holding a webinar on  Wednesday February 20 at 7:00 PM.  The purpose of this webinar is to answer questions for any Scouts considering signing up to attend the Jamboree.  Members of the Jamboree committee will provide an outline of what participants can expect.

Advancement, Awards & Recognition

In addition to the Arrow of Light rank patch, all Webelos who attain their Arrow of Light are eligible to receive the new Arrow of Light plaque. It comes with an engravable plate and holders for your Arrow of Light Ceremonial arrow (arrow kits also available in the shop).   

Boys crossing over from Webelos and for any new Scouts joining a Troop should have the opportunity to earn the Boy Scout Joining badge. Although not technically considered a rank, it is an important part of the beginning of the trail to Eagle and added to the boys permanent computer record. Requirements can be found on page 17 of the Boy Scout Handbook. 

 


Recharter

Unit recharters should be turned in to your District Executive if you did not complete by your February District Roundtable.  Any questions can be directed to Lois Watford at the Wausau Homes Scout Center, 715-355-1450.
