Report to the State 2022
Samuel Warner, Troop 601, Presented on behalf of the Samoset Council

For the first time since 2019, Eagle Scouts throughout Wisconsin delivered their BSA Council Report to the State, to Governor Tony Evers – in person. Due to the pandemic, the past two years the annual event took place virtually.

Samuel Warner, 17, from Troop 601 in Eagle River had the privilege to update the governor from the Samoset Council. He was joined by his father and Scoutmaster Ty Warner at the state Capitol on Tuesday, April 5. Samuel spoke about his Eagle Scout project as well as the amount of popcorn sales his troop sold last year. His troop sold more than $30,000 in popcorn last year. Samuel mentioned that their youngest member, Scout R.J. Behrens sold the most bringing in $10,000.Everyone in the room chuckled, including Evers.

A full story will appear in the Samoset Voice summer edition. Check out previous editions of the Samoset Voice here.

Scout Shop Pricing Increases

As you have undoubtedly noticed, unprecedented supply chain issues and increasing costs have affected all industries, from everyday groceries to the gas pump. Unfortunately, the BSA is not exempt from the impact of these supply chain challenges.

Shipping containers that used to quote at $3,500 are now being quoted at $22,000. Manufacturing costs and scarce materials have significantly impacted product availability, order procurement, lead times, and product costs. As a result of significant cost increases mixed with rising fuel prices, and despite doing our best efforts to manage or offset these costs, we are forced to make the difficult decision to make price increases across many of our product categories.

As such you will notice price changes on inventory and items throughout our store. Our national supply group remains committed to providing quality products at competitive prices in support of our Scouting movement. We appreciate your support and all you do for our youth during these unprecedented times!

Roundtable Changes

In an effort to improve Roundtables, we’re currently in the process of making a few changes to the monthly gatherings.

Beginning in May, some of the locations will change to a more fellowship-based venue. Please see our online calendar for updates to your area’s location.

In May we will also feature a paired down version of the typical information distribution as we hope most have had the chance to capitalize on our Spring recruitment and training resources.

If you need Spring marketing materials, please reach out to your Unit Serving Executive prior to the roundtable so they can be distributed at the meeting. Digital assets can be found here.

Moving forward we will likely be implementing more changes based on the feedback we receive, so please stay tuned!

Please Note: Tomahawk will not be holding a Roundtable for the Month of May.
